Our Mission
our mission is to restore hope, promote healing, and strengthen communities by providing support to families affected by gun violence, youth who have experienced trauma, and food insecurity New Orleans. Through advocacy, youth empowerment, grief support, community programs, and essential resources, we walk alongside individuals and families as they heal, rebuild, and thrive.
About Us
Goddess Reaching Out Outreach was founded from a place of unimaginable loss, but an even greater desire to bring hope to others. After losing my 16-year-old brother, Anthony Davis Jr., to gun violence, my family was forever changed. I watched my mother sink into a deep depression, and my father, who was already living with mental illness, struggle through an emotional breakdown. My brother never had the chance to meet his daughter, who was born after his passing. Witnessing the pain our family endured opened my eyes to the overwhelming need for support, compassion, and resources for families experiencing the same heartbreak. In honor of my brother and the life he lived serving others, I founded Goddess Reaching Out Outreach to ensure that no family has to face tragedy alone. What began as an organization supporting families impacted by gun violence has grown into a nonprofit that also serves youth who have experienced trauma and families facing food insecurity throughout New Orleans. We believe healing happens in many ways. Through grief support groups, funeral expense assistance, youth programs like Painting & Conversations, monthly community food boxes, and community outreach events, we create opportunities for healing, connection, and hope. Art became one of my own healing tools after losing my brother, as well as other loved ones, including my aunt, cousin, and uncle to acts of violence. That personal journey inspired our youth programs, where creative expression helps young people process difficult experiences in healthy and meaningful ways. Every program we offer is rooted in compassion because our mission is personal. We know what it means to grieve. We know what it means to struggle. And we know the power of a community that chooses to show up for one another. Today, Goddess Reaching Out Outreach continues to honor Anthony Davis Jr.’s legacy by restoring hope, inspiring healing, and strengthening communities, one family at a time.
Programs Offered

Our Programs Funeral Expense Assistance We provide financial assistance to families who have lost a loved one to gun violence to help ease the burden of funeral expenses. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis as funding allows. Court Advocacy No family should face the justice process alone. We provide compassionate court advocacy by standing alongside survivors and families during court proceedings, offering emotional support and guidance throughout the process. Grief Support Groups Our grief support groups provide safe, welcoming spaces for both youth and adults to process loss, connect with others who understand, and begin their healing journey. Painting & Conversations This youth program combines creative expression with meaningful discussions, using painting as a way to encourage open conversations about emotions, mental wellness, relationships, and life’s challenges. Youth Healing Through the Arts Designed for youth who have experienced trauma, this program uses creative outlets such as painting, music, dance, writing, and other art forms to promote healing.
